The Wife Life for me!
Want to know what it's REALLY like to be a married woman in Orange County, California? I guarantee you it isn't as superficial as some Bravo shows would have you believe. My life may not be as glamorous, but it is honest. I love my husband, and I love our life in this beautiful part of the United States.

My Birthday is on Friday - Please ignore
It's not that I don't love birthdays, I just don't enjoy celebrating MY birthday. Never have. There's something about all that attention being bestowed on moi that makes it very difficult for me to be my usual happy self.
This isn't anything new. In fact, it goes back to when I was a wee kid living in San Antonio. I had just unwrapped my first radio, and a much-coveted sleeping bag. While all my little friends were busy playing, I took my radio and sleeping bag into my bedroom, closed the door, and let out a huge sigh. Throwing the sleeping bag onto the floor, I flipped on the radio and dialed in the nearest rock station. I just had to have a little "me" time. Decompress. Enjoy the quiet.
Fast-forward a few years and I'm still that way. Except now, I can escape to my home, toss the cat onto my lap, and decompress at my leisure. Which is exactly what I intend to do. The Mr. will likely want to take me to dinner, which is fine, but that's all I really want. No big party, no balloons tied to the mailbox . . . the lesser number of folks know that I'm aging, the better. It's all about denial. :)
So, readers, I'll let you know how this Friday goes.
In the meantime, here's a cute snap of me at Catalina Island getting a cool little kiss from a bronze sea-lion.

A glass of wine and a little about me
Hi everyone,
First of all, I have to admit, I cringe at the idea of a blog, so I had to grab a glass two-buck-chuck to help me get this going. A few days ago, I was reading a newspaper article that featured a blog called “The wife” who, as it turns out, isn’t really a married woman at all. Rather, she’s a single woman who is paid to clean up the homes and kids of wealthy women and blogs about it under the moniker of “The wife”. Am I the only one who sees something slightly misrepresentative about this?
Aside from single women trying to dish out unqualified advice to married women, I have to stand up for the women of my area, Orange County, California. Yes, THAT Orange County. When “Real Housewives of Orange County” first came debuted, I spent a good part of my time traveling for work, and had many conversations about how most women in my county are NOT like the “Real Housewives of Orange County”. My hope is that this blog will give the world an opportunity to see what an average married woman in Orange County, California is REALLY like.
So who am I? I’m still trying to figure that out. Really, I’m a mess. Just ask my husband. We’ve been married since August 19, 2005. I’ve lived in Orange County, California for about the past 20 years, and specifically, I live in the city of Orange (there are not nearly as many orange trees here as you’d think). I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, but in the meantime, I’m a marketing executive at a destination marketing organization. I’m married to an engineer (known as “The Mr." from here on in), and I currently have one cat, no kids. I volunteer with the Girl Scouts, and donate more of my time and money to National Cat Protection Society in Huntington Beach. In my off hours, I find baking and cooking to be mental vacations from the day-to-day sameness.
I’m still trying to decide where I’m going to take this blog, but with your help, I want to make this a fun place where you can come to see what life is like for a chick married to an engineer and living in beautiful Orange, California.
